We aim that this network will share best practice and develop the workforce to deliver outstanding education. Cornerstone in partnership with Exeter University and Marjons University is training new teachers through a school based ‘School Direct’ training course and it bases students in schools locally for the year of their PGCE course. It has been designated by the DfE as an English Hub that will in this first phase of the national programme, support schools in the teaching of Early Reading and Synthetic Phonics processes. It is also responsible for the Science Learning Partnership in Devon offering science and STEM based training for teachers at both Primary School and Secondary school level. Cornerstone Teaching School runs each year a number of Leadership events and courses to help build capacity in the education system. We hope that these events will empower schools to have a clear focus and to embed good strategies for continued school improvement processes. To help deliver on this agenda Cornerstone has many experienced professionals who are National Leaders of Education (NLE), Local Leaders of Education (LLE), Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE) and National Leaders in Governance (NLG) who can be deployed to work alongside schools and Trusts that wish to tap into their experience and expertise.
